Which choke should I use here, coach?
by: Joe RankinWell, it doesn’t make as much difference as you might think. For beginning students, you’ll need mostly an open choke for lessons. No knowledgeable Instructor is going to put an inexperienced shooter in a situation where he needs more than an Improved Cylinder choke to consistently break the targets. Cylinder or Skeet would be just fine to begin with in my program. As shooters gain experience & become more proficient, they normally go to slightly tighter chokes & don’t change chokes as often. Here’s a jewel for you chronic choke changers: Pay more attention to what the targets are doing & spend less time changing chokes. I’ll bet you pick up a few targets!
